Prompt: Dickinson uses the metaphor of a funeral to describe her inner struggles. What metaphor would you use to describe your own mind?

Prompt Response: ¨My mind is a traffic jam¨ I created this metaphor based on how I view my mind. I believe this metaphor perfectly describes my mind. I´m a very busy person with volleyball, an active social life, and being a junior in high school in general. Not only am I always moving, but so is my mind. With my Adhd, I´m always thinking and having random thoughts running through my mind constantly. Getting distracted easily and being a very disoriented person can make school hard. With 7 classes a day and volleyball right after school, it can make it difficult for my mind to handle so many things at once. That´s why I compare my mind to a traffic jam, because so much goes on up there sometimes it gets so confusing, and it all just crashes.

Summary: In class today, we spent the beginning of class reviewing two poems by Emily Dickinson. We then started working on our heart projects based on one of the poems.

Reflection: I learned that I can relate to poems and that I find them more interesting than I thought I would. I also learned that not all poems are what they seem and that there is always a deeper meaning in every line.
