Prompt: After two weeks of studying rhetorical devices, types of rhetoric, and methods for identifying rhetorical techniques, which rhetorical device do you find most effective or compelling, and why?

Prompt Response: The rhetorical question is the most effective rhetorical device. It forces the person listening to do the work for you. Instead of just giving them an answer, you ask a question where the answer is obvious. This makes the listener think the idea was their own, which is much more convincing than being told what to do. It’s a great way to grab attention and make a point feel like common sense. It asks a simple question, but sometimes a simple question is just the thing needed to change someones perspective or make something stand out to them.

Summary: In class today, we took our rhetorical devices quiz, and I got an 84%.

Reflection: The quiz made me realize I can identify rhetorical devices much better than I thought. It was also easier than I thought because the quiz was questions related to what we've been reading in class all week.
